Filed an Amendment, owe additional money need payment plan

Hi, I'm looking for some help; on 4-8 I filed my return electronically paying the amount I owed - it was accepted and processed. I then received another 1099C in the mail so I prepared the Amendment paperwork through Turbo Tax and mailed the Amendment today 4-18; however the amount I now owe is something I cannot do in one payment. I tried to apply for the Payment Plan through IRS.gov however it said that "We are unable to complete the transaction you requested." Should I give some time for the Amendment to be processed then try to apply again for the Payment Plan? IRS.gov said to contact them, however it being 4-18 it was busy and told me to call another day.

A simple solution would be to wait until you get an invoice from the IRS requesting payment of the tax due. There will be a phone number on the notice where you can call to set up a payment plan for the tax due.

Thank you very much, I was hesitant to wait on them fearing a penalty for not doing something about it sooner.
