2020 amend

Hi all, I am trying to send my amended e-file 2020 Form 1040-X tax using my TurboTax. But TurboTax did not allow me to send it, it’s recommending sending by mail, even though I sent my 1040 2020 tax as e-file. Any help? Appreciate... Maury

You cannot e-file an amended 2020 return. Only an amended 2021 return can be e-filed. Your amended 2020 return has to be printed, signed and mailed.

Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Even during “normal” times it takes about four months for the IRS to process an amended return. During the pandemic and due to the severe backlog at the IRS it is taking much longer—six months or more for many amended returns. Do not expect quick results from amending. When the IRS issues a refund for an amended return it will be by check. They do not make direct deposits for refunds for amended returns. You can watch for information here:

Hi,

My printer printed few copies of all amended and new taxes ?! Should I send only one copied of 1040-X and 1040-SR ?

TurboTax will guide you through printing and mailing your 1040X along with any required attachments.

How do I print my amended return if I've closed out of it?
