On my 2021 taxes, I reported my dividends and distributions from form 1099-DIV. I noticed that on my last years taxes (2020) I had the forms 1040 schedule D and 8949 on my returns. I didn’t see these forms on my 2021 taxes, so wondering why that happened since I used the same form as last year to get my numbers.
Thanks!

For 2020 some stocks or mutual funds were sold from your account and reported on Schedule D and Form 8949. This tax year 2021, there were no stock or mutual fund sales from your brokerage account. If your account is managed by the brokerage, they did not make any sales. If you decide when to buy and sell, you did not sell any stocks off mutual funds in 2021.

If your mutual funds made a distribution it would be reported on box2a of the Form 1099-DIV. If you sold any stocks then you would have received a form 1099-B from your brokerage company. Additionally, you can contact your brokerage company to see if you should be receiving any 1099 Forms. Additionally, you can login to your brokerage website and there is usually a tax center or a specific documents section where you can look for all the tax forms issued to you.
