When you completed the recovery rebate credit part of the Federal Review section did you answer correctly when asked if you received the 3rd EIP payment of $1400 last year? If you skipped that part or answered incorrectly and put $1400 on line 30 of your tax return by mistake , then the IRS took the $1400 away since you cannot get it twice.

I filed my Federal return expecting a refund. I checked my refund status and it says that the IRS changed my return and now I have to pay. What gives? From what I can determine, they removed the Recovery Rebate credit of $1400. But TurboTax was supposed to figure that out!

Did you already get the 1400? Check your bank account. Line 30 is only if you didn't get the full amount or qualify for more. The IRS records show they sent it to you. But you tried to claim it again. So they took it off your return.
