topic Corrected 1099-div after e-file/accepted 2021 return in After you file

I have completed/e-filed my 2021 return and have since received a corrected 1099-div from an investment account. The correction amounts are pretty trivial - $0.02 moved from ordinary to qualified dividends, $0.42 additional non-dividend distributions and $0.70 additional 199A dividends.

Do I need to file an amended 2021 return? If so, when?

We all want our taxes to be as accurate as possible, but those changes would only make a difference of a penny or two. The IRS is not interested in this small amount, and I expect that they will totally ignore it.

In the worst case, they would send you a letter stating the discrepancy and a bill for a nominal amount. It wouldn't be worth the cost of a postage stamp.

I do not recommend that you file an amended return based on that adjustment.
