topic Overcharged in After you file

Hey, so I filed an original filing on the 5th of March and realized I added an old 2021 w2 onto my 2022 and amended after to make the changes. I was told that amending was done after I received the refund , thus paying back the difference owed for the new one. I originally was getting refunded $1,100 federal & $250 for state then when I did the amend it showed I owed $1,029 and $250 for state. I made less 2021 than I did when filing my 2021 return so I don’t understand why I owe money or I don’t owe taxes, following that, I was charged $2,101 today from the IRS debited out of my account. I have no idea what that charge is and why that is being taking out of my account any help?? I’m confused

This is an issue to discuss with the IRS. It sounds like the amended return got filed before the initial return was completely processed, but I can't be sure of that.

You can see a transcript of your payment history Get Transcript Online at the website Get Your Tax Record.

Or you can call the IRS toll-free at 1-800-829-1040 or visit a Taxpayer Assistance Center Local IRS Office
