Probably----but do not even try to do that until the IRS has fully processed your return. If and when you amend, your 1099G is not entered in the same place as a W-2.

UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION

Unemployment compensation is taxable on your federal return.

You will have to enter a 1099G that is issued by your state.

Some states will mail out the 1099G. Or you might need to go to your state’s unemployment website and use the password, etc. that you have been using to certify for weekly benefits to get your 1099G from the state’s site.

Enter your 1099G in Federal>Wages & Income>Unemployment

Go through the screens very carefully, making sure to enter any federal/state tax you had withheld from the unemployment.

The IRS may correct your return. As @xmasbaby0 says, wait.

If you do not receive an IRS correction, do amend your return. Unemployment and W-2 income are both fully taxable on federal, but there are differences. Additionally the IRS computers may not "see" you Form 1099-G because it was entered as wages and audit you for not reporting unemployment.

For help amending see How to amend (change or correct) a return you already filed.
