If you are trying to read the transcripts then you are not reading it correctly ... the credit amount will be shown as a negative amount with the date of 4/15 (all the refundable credits will be shown this way) but it does not mean you will get it as a second refund later or that the credit was not included in the refund. Review what was shown on the 1040 line 28 and the amount on the form 8812 along with what you got in advance ... are the numbers not adding up? The IRS will send a letter of explanation a couple of weeks after they change a refund amount ... watch for it.

The balance of your child tax credit is reported on Line 28 of Form 1040. Check your Form 1040 to see if there is a number on this line. If there is nothing on Line 28 of Form 1040, check your Form 8812. Form 8812 might explain why you did not get the other half of your child tax credit.

Here is some key information about the Advance Child Tax Credit and the Refundable Child Tax Credit.

Who qualifies for the child tax credit? For the 2021 tax year, you can take full advantage of the expanded credit if your modified adjusted gross income is under $75,000 for single filers, $112,500 for heads of household, and $150,000 for those married filing jointly.

Does your income full above the threshold of your filing status?

The Child Tax Credit phases out in two different steps based on your modified adjusted gross income (AGI) in 2021.

The first phaseout can reduce the Child Tax Credit to $2,000 per child.

That is, the first phaseout step can reduce only the $1,600 increase for qualifying children ages 5 and under, and the $1,000 increase for qualifying children ages 6 through 17, at the end of 2021.

The second phaseout can reduce the remaining Child Tax Credit below $2,000 per child.

Child Tax Credit

I have the exact same issue…with the same date as you mentioned with the amount I was expecting ( the other half) . Line 28 of my return shows this amount as the balance also, and we fall under the income limit. But it is not included in my l refund, and I can’t reach anyone at IRS to explain.

You have electronically filed your 2021 Federal tax return and the IRS has accepted the tax return.

If the IRS has reduced your refund, they will be sending you a communication explaining why they reduced the amount of your refund. Once you know the nature of the problem, you may be able to correct the problem by amending your 2021 Federal tax return.

If you did not receive $1,400 for the third stimulus payment, the IRS may think that you were already issued the third stimulus payment.

At your IRS online account, you can find whether a payment was issued to you that you did not receive. You can also find this information on your tax transcript.

If you need to trace a payment that the IRS says has been issued to you, mail or fax a completed IRS Form 3911, Taxpayer Statement Regarding Refund.
