If you used TurboTax in 2020, then the state refund from your state tax return would have been rolled over to this year's return.

Please keep in mind that if all three of the following are true, your refund counts as taxable income:

You itemized deductions last year, instead of taking the standard deduction
You claimed state and local income taxes (rather than sales tax)
Claiming the deduction helped you increase your federal refund or lower your tax bill

Even when your refund is taxable, it may not be the entire amount. It all depends on how much the deduction affected your refund or tax bill.

If you still would like to edit or delete your refund, please follow the steps below:

Sign in to your account and open the Income & Expenses section of your return
Click on Federal
On the Your income and expenses screen, scroll down to the Other Common Income section
Select Start on the Refunds Received for State/Local Tax Returns section
Use the trash can icon to delete your refund.

i already deleted one, but then it has one for 2020 of $1408 i don't even know where it gets that number from. I try to go into that section, but it wants me to add, there's no option to delete it? Can anyone help me delete? i just want to be sure it doesn't add to my taxable income

No, you should not delete it. If you used TurboTax in 2020, then the state refund from your state tax return would have been rolled over to this year's return. If it is not taxable, it will not show up on your 1040 (Schedule 1, Line 1).

To confirm it is not on your 1040, you can follow the steps below:

Open your return.
Click on Tax Tools on the left hand side.
Click on Tools.
Click on View Tax Summary.
Click on Preview my 1040 on the left hand side.
Look at your 1040, Schedule 1, Line 1.

If your state refund is deemed by TurboTax to not be taxable, then Line 1 will be blank.

Can I delete it, not should I delete it? Also, I can't find a Schedule A, but it does show I took the Standard Deduction.

What I'm asking is is that number Turbo Tax is filling out my state refund from last year? If so, it's incorrect that's why I want to delete it.

And how do you get to Tax Tools once your returns have been filed? That menu seems to only appear sometimes I hate it

If you already filed your return, you cannot make changes unless you elect to amend. To amend, please see the instructions on the page How to amend (change or correct) a return you've already filed.

Since you already filed, do you have an amount on Schedule 1, Line 1 on the printed copy of your return? This schedule is different from your Schedule A, which is itemized deductions. The total of Schedule 1 flows to Line 8 of your 1040. If your tax refund was taxable, then it would appear on Schedule 1. If it does not show up on Schedule 1, then the refund did not affect your tax return.

It shoulsn't be taxable because it doesn't meet the 3 criteria; i took the standard deduction. I haven't been able to find Schedule 1, i'll look again. And I finally just had to file because no one seems to be able to tell me how I can delete/edit it since no matter what it's the wrong amount.

If you cannot find Schedule 1, then please check Line 8 of your 1040 to ensure you do not have Schedule 1. If this line is empty, then you do not have a Schedule 1 and your refund was not included with your taxable income.
