I filed an amended return and entered my direct deposit info does that mean I will have to pay in due to them only sending checks out for an amended return?

Can you please clarify your question? When you amended your return did you go from receiving a refund to owing instead?

It didn't say I owed anything I was curious if Amended a Return will take out taxes you owe ?

No, if you amend your income tax return and your original return shows a refund, the IRS won't take out the taxes shown on your amended return. The IRS will send the refund from your original return and then you'll have to send the payment to the IRS that you owe on your amended return.

I'm just confused I've got a letter in the mail stating the IRS owes me stimulus money plus money because I over paid last year for stimulus I didn't get? So you won't receive money from Amending an Return? Just pay in ?

If I'm understanding your situation correctly:

You have already filed your 2021 tax return.
You have not filled an amended return yet. Do not at this time.
You received an IRS tax notice stating:
- You did not get a 2021 stimulus check and the IRS owes it to you.
- The IRS owes you additional money because you overpaid last year.

If this is correct, you don't have to do anything. The IRS has recalculated your tax return, made the adjustment, and you should expect a check for the stimulus and overpayment.

If this is not correct, please resubmit the question.

when you amend you are supposed to report on line 18 any actual previous refund.

the line 20 would show any amount owed

while line 21 would should any overpayment due you.

do not file an amended return until the original is fully processed.
