Refund was short!!

My refund was supposed to be around $4700 and only $2100 was deposited!! Where is the rest of my refund. I know I do not owe any agencies money so I cannot figure out where the rest will be comimg from. I just spoke with a representative from TurboTax and they had no clue what to say and all they did was waste my time. I see on here how TurboTax is aware and trying to fix the issue but obviously it isnt fixed. I also saw a lawsuit option on here that seemed like a good idea to get on board with if I do not get the rest of my refund. We all deserve answers and the refund we are entitled too.

Did you use Pay with Refund for your TurboTax fees?

My refund was way short as well. I got on the website for the IRS and chose the option to check my refund. The IRS is the one that amended my tax return and proceeded to give me multiple details as to why this was the case. 5-6 options were given that it could be, but still not the exact reason why. So now I am sitting on hold with the IRS for 30 mins so I can straighten this out. And getting through to a rep was horrible. I wish you luck!

My refund was short as well. Should hae been $9,580 and I received $7,866.32.

Contacted the bank but have heard nothing.

Sounds like I need to contact an attorney. I’ve used TurboTax for years but am extremely disappointed in Turbo Tax and will most likely not use the product anymore.

A refund may be smaller than expected for one of two reasons:

Customers who opt to pay their TurboTax fees by deducting them from their federal tax refund may notice a small service charge. You can find out more in this help article: What is Refund Processing Service? For questions about your refund (if you used Pay with Refund), you can contact SBTPG via their secure website; or

The IRS issued a smaller refund because of an adjustment or refund offset. If this is the case, you will receive an explanatory letter from the IRS. For more information, please see: Why is my direct-deposited refund or check lower than the amount in TurboTax?

The $59 dollars for Turbo Tax was taken out of the $9,580.

Where is my $1,766.32?

If you used Refund Transfer, in this public forum, we do not have access to any information regarding refund processing. It would be necessary to try contacting TPG again for additional information. They are one who handles your refund if you elected to pay your fees with your refund. You can also check out this TPG Help Article to check on your refund.

They did my taxes all wrong.. I was shorted over a thousand dollars and now they wont give me a refund!

My refund was short about a $1000 too I called the IRS and there's no offsets I am very upset about why my return is so small.

My refund was short as well. Come to find out, this was because my 3rd economic impact payment from March of 2021 was issued to my wife AND I. We had to go into the bank together to deposit the check since it was made out to both of us.

I went to IRS check my refund page and confirmed my payment, which was actually half of the total amount of the check. This made me think I was entitled to more $$$ cha-ching!

I'm sure if I had my wife check on the IRS page, we would see the other half, which I wasn't aware of at the time I filed my taxes.

I had to go to my bank statement from March 2021 to see the deposit amount, it was actually double what the IRS reported for my 3rd economic impact payment.

I hope this helps others, I was pretty bummed but glad to find out what the heck happened.

Turbo tax is a **bleep**ing scam and I hope all the employees and the IRS burn in hell.
