Entered wrong amount

I just efiled and noticed I entered the wrong amount on the education section. I put the wrong grant amount and put less than what I actually received. I spoke to 2 agents and they both gave me different information. One told me I needed to amend and one told me I didn’t. Trying to figure out what is right. When I started the amend form and updated the amount my total figures didn’t change.

If your e-filed return is pending, you will not be able to make any changes until it is accepted or rejected by the IRS. After that, you can amend your return. Please see How to amend (change or correct) a return you've already filed for more information.
