I was supposed to get almost $7,000 back from federal. I received a deposit this morning from Tpg llc for the amount of $156.00. I called the IRS offset line and I have no offsets. I have good credit with no outstanding balances as well as no owed child support, etc. The IRS website says my refund is under review code 1242. Has anyone else had this? Why did I receive such a low refund? I claim two children which is why it’s so high. Thank you

Was $156 your state refund? Federal and state come at different times. As for why you are under review, no one at TurboTax knows. The IRS does not give TT any information after you file your tax return. If the IRS needs any extra information from you they will send you a letter. Meanwhile you will just need to sit tight and watch the IRS site for information.

It’s definitely not my state refund. I received those two weeks ago. I am aware that typically you receive state refunds first and federal at a later date. I know turbo tax doesn’t know what the IRS is doing. I was curious if anyone in the community had dealt with this before. On a personal level. Thank you!

The code 1242 means your refund is frozen while the IRS waits for information from you. It could be something simple- like a birth certificate. Watch your mail for a letter from the IRS requesting what they need to process your return.
