How do I access the tool for exploring the various options for calculating next year's (2022) estimated tax payments? What Turbo Tax support says to do (search for "1040-es") does not work. The search finds nothing for "1040-es." I talked to support and after 15 minutes, I was told that apparently this feature of the software is not working yet and I should try back later. Is that the case?

I don't know if the "Search" works, but at least in the Desktop software, it does have a place to prepare the 1040ES forms. (Online should be similar, but I don't know if teh forms there are really ready or not)

Navigate as follows, after opening your tax return:

1) Click on the "Federal Taxes" tab (if you are using H&B software, I think it's Personal Taxes )

2) Click on the "Other Tax Situations" tab

3) Scroll down that menu page and find the entry for "Form W-4 and estimated taxes" and go in there.

......once you start in there, you can decline the W-4 preparation, then it moves on to preparing estimated tax forms.

This seems to work. Many thanks. I do not understand why no one from Turbo Tax support could explain this to me or why their own advice online does not recommend this.

FYI - for next year or any one else reading this. You need to search on W4 to get to the Estimate section.

You can just type W4 in the search box at the top of your return , click on Find. Then Click on Jump To and it will take you to the estimated tax payments section. Say no to changing your W-4 and the next screen will start the estimated taxes section.

Well, one thing that was a problem with those forms until Thursday (17 Feb) , was that they had 2021 submission deadline dates on them.

So maybe they were working on old information about the forms not being corrected yet.
