It’s important, because the IRS has letter or notice numbers that are associated with particular issues or processes. You can find the letter or notice number in the upper-right corner of your IRS correspondence.

Once you’ve located that, see the TurboTax Help article I got a letter or notice from the IRS. This should be helpful.

If you already received the Child Tax Credit for the year, you do not have to complete the form. The IRS computers run though and look for specific parameters to identify people who may have missed these valuable credits. If you did not receive it, you can fill out the Form 15110 (it has the same information like you file in TurboTax) and mail it to the address on the CP08 Notice.
