Why is my Tax Refund being Delayed when it was only two days left for me to receive it?

Turbotax Estimated my refund would arrive on the 15th of this month however when I checked the IRS website for my status it now says Delayed and I don't understand why

First of all, 21 days is not a promise or guarantee----it is only an estimated date. If you are getting EIC or child tax credit the IRS cannot issue your refund before mid-February due to the PATH act. You can continue to track your refund on the IRS site.

This is a new status message the IRS has introduced,

We'll have to see by experience exactly what sort of delays are involved.

According to the recent AP news , IRS has a backlog of 24 million tax returns, and processes them in the order received.

does your return claim EIC ?

It's not 2/15 yet so that makes sense as the reason.
