I filed my taxes and scheduled payment to be withdrawn yesterday. This did not happen. Now it appears I have an $72.00 Interest/Penalty charge!

Please explain why my payment was not made and the $72.00 charge.

In a normal season, the IRS will debit your account on the date you specified or soon after. We have had several reports of the IRS not debiting accounts on the scheduled date. Just be patient -- the IRS will take your money!

Can you please explain where you are seeing the $72 charge so we can assist you?

Is this a charge on the IRS website or something within TurboTax?

If you had an underpayment penalty assessed, this would occur if you did not have enough withheld in income taxes throughout the year as you earned your income.
