I received an email from TurboTax that it was succesfully filed, received and accepted by IRS (i.e. via two separate emails). My tax payment was supposedly debited from my checking account on April 9th. To date IRS has not debited my checking account for my payment. I am somewhat concerned because April 15th is around the corner. Any thoughts please. I'd be happy to pay using the IRS website directly, but can't afford to have my tax payment withdrawn twice if this gets fixed later!
Fri, 16 Apr 2021 21:10:35 GMT https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/after-you-file/discussion/re-tax-payment/01/2211557#M562338 anoorbak 2021-04-16T21:10:35Z Re: Tax Payment https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/after-you-file/discussion/re-tax-payment/01/2211803#M562372
Is there a way to stop payment through turbotax and we pay IRS online directly?????
Fri, 16 Apr 2021 22:42:32 GMT https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/after-you-file/discussion/re-tax-payment/01/2211803#M562372 victorP1 2021-04-16T22:42:32Z Re: Tax Payment https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/after-you-file/discussion/re-tax-payment/01/2211815#M562375
IRS
I filed through eFile with my payment to my taxes. Thanks.

It is a little bit confusion by IRS "Call IRS e-file Payment Services 24/7 at [phone number removed] to inquire about or cancel your payment, but please wait 7 to 10 days after your return was accepted before calling."

I think it is reasonable to count 10 day from "the specific date" if the tax payer specify the later day, such as April 9. I am in the same boat.
In the same boat - filed Friday, March 26th with payment set for Monday Match 29th. Got the confirmation acceptance text and email. Payment still hasn't been pulled. Called the IRS e-file support # [phone number removed]. They didn't have anything on record and transferred me to the IRS number # [phone number removed]. Got disconnected a few times and gave up... thinking I'll just give it a week and keep my fingers crossed.

I told her that it is a major problem. I agree that someone from TurboTax should officially respond to this thread.

I would think TurboTax would be on the hook for any late payments. It's the 15th and I had to pay a bunch this year but nothing has been taken from my account yet. I'm sure this would turn into class action if people have to pay penalties.

<LI-USER uid="113"></LI-USER> The info you provide seems to be about tax refunds (rather than tax payments). When others on this thread have contacted the IRS, they were not told there was a problem on the IRS side but rather on the tax software (TurboTax) side. I tried looking at the H&R Block facebook page that you shared but can't see relevant conversations about problems with payments of taxes (just people waiting for refunds). Do you have more direct links to the payment problem that we are experiencing?

I'm at 7 business days now. I find it hard to believe it's an IRS backlog issue. If I go to IRS direct pay and use the same bank routing/account info, which I did just 2 days ago to pay estimated taxes, it went through in 2 days. Something tells me this is a TurboTax problem. Agree we need an admin to come address this. I'd be happy to pay using the IRS website directly, but can't afford to have my tax payment withdrawn twice if this gets fixed later!

This is an IRS issue only ... all the TT program does is pass along the debit REQUEST with the tax return and it is up to the FEDS/State to complete the debit request. TT has no control over what the taxing authorities are doing or not doing.

For instance last year ... I had several clients set up to debit the balance due on the federal returns AND to debit the quarterly payments timely as well. These returns were all filed and accepted before April and the IRS took until November to debit not only the balance due but also the first 3 estimated payments. NONE of my clients were sent any late notices or charged any fees because of the IRS not doing what they needed to do timely.

So it looks like the IRS is doing it again ... they have put the balance due returns on the back burner to work on other situations first ... they are not just up to their eyeballs in work they are totally underwater. Nothing you can really do but wait patiently until they get around to doing the debits. Just don't spend the money ... pretend it is already gone.

I hope your payment does get deducted from your account. Last year, I learned the hard way that Intuit/Turbo Tax payment system didn't get my payment to the IRS as scheduled and I got a notice that I owed a penalty on top of my tax owed. I'm hoping that this year my payment is made/deducted from my bank account, but today makes 11 days, and still no IRS deduction/payment from my bank account.

Interestingly enough, it also show no information in my state's Information Worksheet but my Refund from the state successfully deposited. When back into turbotax and clicked REVIEW. This time, it takes me to filling out that account information. Conclusion? TURBOTAX Glitch has been fixed but if you already efiled, you will need to MAIL A CHECK??? Argh!

I don't believe the backlog that you speak of is the issue at all. I have confirmed they have processed my return and have the transcript. I am having the same issue and I know others who had to pay and it was done within a day. I looked at my tax return and noticed 35c is not check for either Checking or Savings. I clearly remember having it checked, as I have used Turbo Tax for many, many years. I think this may be causing the payment not to be withdrawn. It is beyond me that Turbo Tax would allow a return to be filed without an error message or warning. Now if this is the issue, how do we rectify. Because trying to talk to a live operator at either Turbo Tax or the IRS is near impossible.

Mystery solved for me. Human error on my part. Received letter from IRS that my direct debit could not be processed due to 'invalid account number structure.' Double-checked with my financial institution. Used the irs.gov/directpay link to pay the balance due. Good luck to those of you who are still in limbo. I appreciated receiving all the info from those of you who are knowledgeable in tax matters.

I filed on 4/4 with the same date for the IRS to debit my account. I received the e-mail on 4/4 that the return was accepted, however when I logged into the IRS website and downloaded my account transcript it shows the return was received on 4/15. Perhaps the 7-10 day waiting time began for me on 4/15? I guess I have to keep waiting for the IRS to debit my bank account?

Filed April 3rd, received confirmation but Fed hasn't taken payment yet for Fed Tax. State tax already sent my refund. Could TurboTax have an issue facilitating Fed debit payments? Or is the Fed behind on processing debit from eFile via TurboTax? Last Friday would be 10 business days so now I am getting concerned.

Same situation for me. I filed on April 3, 2021 and my federal taxes were accepted that day with payment to be made on April 5, 2021. It has been over 10 days and the money is still in my bank account. It looks like this is a common issue with many people here. Has TurboTax responded to anyone, yet? I clicked on TurboTax "Support Contact Us" link and received a phone # and support ID, called and only received an automated menu that didn't allow any connection to talk to a live person. This is frustrating as I've used TurboTax for over 10 years and never had an issue, but thought they would be responsive, which they are not! I tried calling the IRS directly, but couldn't stay on hold for the wait time they quoted.

I am having the same problem. I filed and paid federal taxes on April 7,2021. Got the confirmation from Turbotax on April 8 that my federal and state tax returns had been accepted. The state has deducted their payment from my bank account but the federal has not. On my account on the IRS website, it does not show the tax return nor the amount owed/paid for 2020. TurboTax needs to address what we all need to do to make sure our returns and payments are going to get to the IRS!!!

<LI-USER uid="2433668"></LI-USER> I am not paranoid. I just want "official" information. I am not asking for TT to give me details. We will send you an email when the IRS accepts your return. After that, the IRS needs to process your return.
Note that once the IRS accepts your return, TurboTax gets NO FURTHER information on the progress.
It might take the IRS up to10 business days (or longer) to process your return after it is accepted. The IRS might not process your return before the date you specify to make the payment. Only after it processes your return, will the IRS take your payment. If the IRS has not processed your return within 10 days of accepting it....contact their Efile department..."

That is the information that TT should provide up front. If they did that - this thread and all of your responses would not be necessary. Wouldn't that be nice?

TT cannot broadcast a general message on the website and even if they did no one would see it. It may be nice if they warn you when you put in for the Debit but that has never been a part of the programming and the info fluctuates weekly so it is not feasible to keep up with the changes on a timely manner.

Sadly the new normal since covid happened means that the IRS will usually take much longer to process payments and the returns with balance dues on them ... how much longer fluctuates and the IRS site doesn't even post this information ... we post it here from current and past experiences.

Having same problem. Taxes owed where supposed to be debited on 4/12 and still haven't been taken out. In past has always been with 24 to 48 hours. I am on hold with them now to try and get answers. Maybe they just don't need our money any more...

As I posted above, same issue. However, 15 days after my requested withdrawal date, the funds have finally been withdrawn. So maybe the 7-10 days is now 14-21 days. Annoying, but resolved over time.

I file on MArch 26th, it was accepted on March 26th. My Federal DD payment was deducted Monday April 19th. It’s a IRS issue. Rest assured they will take your money!

I filed state and federal returns together and already received state refund. Federal was accepted on 4/11/21 and direct debit was scheduled to be paid on 4/15/21. I did not receive a confirmation number and my Tax form printed with XXXXX's for routing and account number. I checked earlier today payment was not withdrawn. I cannot contact IRS as they want the confirmation number....Now what?
