The IRS will send you a letter saying what they changed. That is a $2950 swing. That doesn't seem to be a common Recovery rebate credit error.

A common adjustment is if you claimed the Recovery rebate credit on 1040 line 30 when you already got the Stimulus payment or got the second one after you filed or reported the wrong amounts or entered them in the wrong box. Do you have an amount on line 30?

OK it probably is for the 3,000 on line 30. Are you suppose to have 3,000? That is only if you qualified for more Stimulus than you already got. How much did you get for the first 2 rounds? Are you Single, Married, how many dependents under 17?
