You must have misunderstood something. Taxes owed can Never be paid from tax refund, federal or state.

You have to pay the state taxes owed as you indicated in the File section of the program on Step 2. Your payment options did Not include paying from the federal tax refund.

Look at the State Filing Instructions page in the PDF of your tax return to see how you selected to pay the state taxes owed.

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

When you sign onto your online account and land on the Tax Home web page, scroll down and click on Add a state.

This will take you back to the 2020 online tax return.

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen. Then click on Print Center. Then click on Print, save or preview this year's return.

And Turbo Tax will always say the tax due or refund. That is just the final result when you filed. They don't know if or when you paid it. And the IRS or state doesn't tell or update Turbo Tax when or if they get your payment.

I understand it does not come out of federal return, but while filing it ask you to pick a date you would like your state return paid from your banking account associated with your turbo tax, and it was supposed to be taken out my account 3-26 and was not
