Do not file an incorrect 1040X to correct an incorrect 1040,

or you will be in twice the difficulty.

do not file another amended return at this time you'll just be compounding your problems. what you need to do is wait to see if the incorrect 1040-X is accepted or rejected. if rejected do nothing until the original return is processed. then you can file a correct amended return but one is not to be filed if you are trying to amend for nontaxable unemployment compensation. the IRS says they'll do the correcting and do not submit an amended return at this time. if it is accepted, you have to wait until both the original and the incorrect amended return are processed, then you can submit a valid amended return if needed.
