Can you amend your filing status electronically using TurboTax?

Unfortunately software defaulted to "SINGLE" instead of "HOH". Can I file an amended return electronically just to correct filing status or do I have to print and send it via US Mail. This is for the 2020. I already sent out the 2019.

I just got a clarification how to avoid this going forward.

Yes, you can e-file form 1040X Amended U.S. Individual Income Tax Return. However, Form 1040X won't be available until 03/26/2021.

Will the Recovery 2021 updates to the 8962 penalty waiver be included in the updates associated to the 2021 march recovery act. IRS still has not finished processing my refund since acceptance of Feb. /11/21. 😥😡

The IRS has not yet given guidance on how they will handle the elimination of the penalty due to the American Rescue Plan. Do not amend your return. The IRS will have a solution to resolve this and refund the penalty that you paid. TurboTax is working with the IRS and will have a solution available soon.America Resc

I need to amend due to the filing status being WRONG. It should be HOH not single. The app defaulted to this and I had to change my dependent fr other to SISTER (sister in law) because of this.

It takes a long time to process. I have added the 2 forms they asked for. No other changes! It takes forever and they have not finished and I need to send the amendment.

Is is advisable not to file an amend until the IRS has finished processing your original return.
