topic Stimulus in After you file

I filed my 2019 taxes late, so by mail. I checked USPS and the mailed returns was received. I checked my portal and it’s still not processed yet.

In hopes to get the 3rd stimulus check (since I missed out on the 2nd check), I eFiled my 2020 tax returns via TurboTax. I have confirmation my returns were accepted. But the IRS portal does not show accepted. It’s my understanding that eFiled returns can take up to 21 days, so that may be the reason why the portal isn’t updated. Not sure how much that’s true due to Covid.

I checked the “get my payment” site and I’m getting the same message as I did when I was waiting to get the 2nd stimulus check. “We are unable to provide the status of your payment right now because: We don’t have enough information yet (we’re working on this) or you’re not eligible for payment.” Based on the qualifications, I know I am eligible for the stimulus check. I just figured I didn’t get the 2nd check because my 2019 tax returns weren’t filed yet.

So my question is, since my 2019 mailed tax returns have not yet been processed AND my 2020 eFiled taxes have been accepted but not yet processed, will I still have a chance of getting the 3rd stimulus check?

Yes. The third stimulus will use the 2020 tax return when releasing any funds. This year has been packed with changes and the IRS is allowing some latitude trying to help everyone. They are definitely behind in processing all the paper returns and preparing all the necessary action steps for the new American Rescue Plan.
