The IRS has said it will calculate the correct amount of the Recovery Rebate Credit, make the correction and continue processing your return. If a correction is needed, there may be a slight delay in processing your return and the IRS will send you a notice explaining any change made.

You can amend your return if the IRS does not correct it. Wait until your return finishes processing.

The thing is there are many of us who don’t even recall entering any amount into the recovery rebate section/line? Yet we are all TurboTax users. Does Turbo tax have some accountability here?

No, you can't correct it. he IRS will reconcile the recovery payment based on your 2020 income tax return and your refund will be adjusted. The Recovery Credit Rebate form have 2 questions: "How much was the EIP 1 payment received, if you're married, enter $2,400 ,and next question was "How much EIP 2 payment received, if you're married, enter $1,200.

The Recovery Rebate Credit is calculated based on the number of qualified dependents under 17 years old plus taxpayer/s on your 2020 Federal income tax return.

I filed my tax return in Feb. and put the wrong amount in for the 2nd stimulus payment. i put 1200 instead of 1700. At the time TurboTax said it was correct. it is now march and it is still pending with the irs. i looked in turbo tax and the amount is now fixed yet I didn't change it. the refund should have been 500.00 less. what is going on? I'm confused? what is going to happen with my return/refund?
