I just filed using the on-line version, and it appears the handy cover sheet with at-a-glance info about the return is gone. Why would they do that?

I asked the same question. It seems that they don't include it by default. See the answer that I was given on how to retrieve it.

Thanks Oren, I will try the workaround suggested in that answer.
But this is in no way a solution. If you retrieve the returns from previous years, they all come with the cover. This seems to be an unnecessary removal of functionality.
And there is no easy way to provide feedback.
