    <description>&lt;P&gt;I recently received letter 12C from the IRS and it &lt;STRONG&gt;doesn't&lt;/STRONG&gt; specifically ask for form 8962 as seems to be the most common scenario. IRS seems to be asking for:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;OL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Copy of page 1,2 of the tax return&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Amounts and dates of all estimated tax payments&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Supporting docs verifying income and withholding&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Copy of the letter&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/OL&gt;&lt;P&gt;I &lt;EM&gt;suspect&lt;/EM&gt; it might be related to an estimated advance payment I made (1040ES). I was wondering what is the best way to send the receipt for this payment? I just have a confirmation number from IRS regarding the payment.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;what year since the IRS has not started processing 2020 returns?&amp;nbsp; the year should be on the letter.&lt;/P&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Thanks for the quick reply. It is for tax year 2019. I read through the linked article and in my&amp;nbsp; letter there is no specific ask for a missing document. As mentioned in my original post, IRS is asking for some "general" documents.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;My guess is that the advance tax payment is the only "special" thing and hence I was curious how can I provide proof for that payment since I only received a confirmation number from IRS.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;You can provide proof of your advance tax payment (estimated tax) by getting a copy of the transaction from your financial institution where the payment was paid from. It will show that it was paid to the IRS.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;With the transaction document and the match to that same number on the tax return should be enough proof of payment.&lt;/P&gt;
