How do I e-file a 1040X? I need to amend my 2019 return and would prefer to file electronically if possible.

There is no e-filing right now. The IRS has shut down the entire e-file system to prepare for 2020 tax returns. It will reopen sometime in late January. They have not yet announced the exact date.

You can either mail your 2019 Form 1040-X now, or wait and e-file it after the IRS e-file system is back in operation.
