Only a 2020 W-2 can be entered on a tax year 2020 return. The 2020 federal tax return has to be completed and filed before you are eligible for a tax refund advance.

TurboTax will be offering a refund advance loan —but not until January. And you do not get the money until the e-file has been ACCEPTED by the IRS.You also have to agree to receive your refund on the prepaid TurboTax Visa.

If you have a 2019 W-2 and have not filed your 2019 tax return you either need to amend your 2019 return to include that income, or you still need to prepare a 2019 return. You cannot get a refund advance loan based on a 2019 tax return now.

Do you need information on how to prepare and file a 2019 return? You cannot prepare it using the online software. Online is only for 2020 returns--no other year.
