Dear Sir/Madam, I did a 1040X on a return to add a Schedule C for an individual who was a dependent. The resulting 1040X did not pick up the correct original standard deduction, which was an adjusted standard deduction because the taxpayer was a dependent. It did not compute the original correct taxable income which was zero. It did not compute the original overpayment on the return. I had to override the 1040X in several places because it was wrong. Has anyone else had this problem?

If the 1040X column A is not the same as the original return then you must have made changes to the original return BEFORE starting the amendment process. If you were able to make the corrections using the FORMS mode then it is OK to print, ink sign & mail.

I made no changes to the original return before starting the 1040X. I have done at least 100 1040Xs, and never had this problem. The program did not work correctly.
