First---for what tax year? Second--has your original tax return been fully processed yet? Third--did you use TurboTax to prepare the return you want to amend? Do not amend unless the return you need to amend has been FULLY processed or it will create confusion and delays.

An amended 2019 tax return, Form 1040X, has to be printed, signed, dated and mailed by you to the IRS or it can be e-filed if your original 2019 tax return was e-filed. A 2018 or prior year amended tax return can only be printed and mailed.

The IRS will take up to 4 months to process the amended tax return. Wait until you have received the tax refund or the taxes owed have been paid and processed by the IRS before amending the tax return.
