TurboTax will not pay your extra tax. TurboTax guarantees that its calculations are accurate based on the data that you enter. The TurboTax guarantee will pay interest or penalties if TT's calculations are not accurate. TT never pays your extra tax.

https://turbotax.intuit.com/corp/guarantees/

TT has no way to know if you leave out income, enter the wrong amount, etc. etc. You do not say what the IRS changed on your tax return

TurboTax does not receive any information from the IRS or your state after your return was filed, so no one at TurboTax knows about a letter you received from the IRS or the state.

(what the letters from the IRS mean)

Taxes owed can only be paid by the taxpayer, not by TurboTax.

If there was a calculation error in the TurboTax software then TurboTax would pay any penalties and interest assessed.

See this TurboTax support FAQ for the Accuracy Guarantee - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/charges-and-fees/help/what-is-the-turbotax-100-accurate-calculation-guarantee/01/26355

However, in most all cases it is either an incorrect entry by the user of the software or an omission of taxable income by the user that would cause the IRS to assess more taxes owed.

What exactly does the IRS letter you received state for why the IRS changed your tax return? What is the IRS letter or notice number located in the upper right corner of the first page, usually preceded by either a CP or LTR?

Did the IRS bill you for an under payment or late payment penalty ?

If so TT only calculates an estimated underpayment penalty based on the information you entered (unless you choose to override that function) and the IRS/state will then bill you for any more they determine is needed based on the info they have and when you actually pay the balance due. The program cannot estimate the late payment penalty ... the IRS/state always bill you for that themselves.
