an extension is automatic if requested. IRS will contact you if extension is denied.

To track your payment, watch your bank account.

Thanks for the response, got the extension approved. However, is there anyway to know if the payment information has been sent by Turbotax to IRS? Alternatively, any way to check on the IRS side, if they received payment information from Turbotax?

Checking account status may be the last resort as it may take some time.
