topic Tax Return in After you file

I filed my tax return a few days ago and am wondering if there's somehow a way to amend it as in cancel it. I technically wasn't required to file a return since I only worked part time for half the year and then moved to college. I found out after i filed that filing is only required when you make $12,000 and are filing single. I made considerably less than that, and my parents filed their taxes a day later through Freetax USA and were able to claim me as a dependent on theirs and it was rejected because my social security # was obviously associated with my return. I am not getting a refund nor do I owe anything. But now I wish I wouldn't have even filed in the first place, because my parents would like to claim me and keep their taxes as is and just refile them. Can you help?

Well you made an error and you cannot just take the return back after it is filed. SO... your parents will need to mail in their return this year to claim you as they should. And you will need to amend your return once the original has fully processed and you have the original refund in your hands.
