I understand that but I mainly am wondering why turbo tax did not have the option to put in an ip pin if I did know it or have it? If I'd known I would've had the pin before I'd file it. Instead of trying to get help when no one at all is available.

TurboTax does have that option,

Only the IRS and you know if you need a IP PIN. TurboTax has no way of knowing.

If you know and have a IP PIN then there is a screen to enter it. If you forgot to enter it then the reject message should remind you and you can go back and enter it.

Because 99% of filers do not have or need a IP PIN then that questions is not asked of everyone, and if you did not know that you needed it then you could not have provided it anyway.

Rejected

My taxes got rejected due to no ip pin which turbo tax never had an option to input one, nor do I know it nor knew I needed an ip pin. My taxes from 2018 was accepted but never received them. I don't live at that address nor have access to the bank on it, no one to speak to at the IRS also when trying verify my identity to get a tax transcript or whatever, I CANT SPEAK TO A **bleep** HUMAN BEING DUE TO COVID-19. I am so frustrated. I can't obtain my ip pin, the virtual assistant works like **bleep**, I never received a notice with my ip pin ever. When I input info at IRS.gov I keep getting an error message saying that my info don't match their records. I can't even make an account on the website to view any tax record. Will I get my stimulus check? I doubt it, everything is not going through and I barely have the patience to start the steps if there is a way to get all this fixed. But I am tired of this So what do I do????

If the IRS rejected because of a missing IP PIN then the IRS database thinks that they sent you a letter with an IP PIN and the will not allow an e-file without it.

Unfortunately, at this time with the IRS partial shut down. The IP PIN recovery tool if it works is the only option other than waiting or printing and mailing.

https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/retrieve-your-ip-pin

Since it it the IRS that rejects, nobody other than the IRS can help.
