What happened?

IND-424 - If the filing status of the return is married filing jointly and either 'PrimaryDeathDt' or 'SpouseDeathDt' has a value, then 'SurvivingSpouseInd' must be checked.

It sounds like your spouse passed away, and you are filing as a surviving spouse. Is that correct? If so, I am very sorry for your loss.

According to the error message, you need to check the box indicating that you are a surviving spouse. You can access this in the My Info section (left-hand menu bar) in TurboTax Online. Once you check the box, please resubmit.

Hi, where would I find the box indicating that I am a surviving spouse? I cannot see it anywhere.

Description of error:

My husband passed away and I don't think I filed the right way and I don't really understand how to fix or if it's been fixed for me can you help me figure out what I need to do to fix the problem Thanks

I also can't find the surviving spouse "box" that must be checked. I've gone over and over "My Info" several times... no where. Can you specific where to find this? I've also entered it into the search bar with no luck.

Log back into TurboTax.

On the black panel on the left, select My Info
Select Edit to the right of your marital status
You will need to check Widowed in this section
You will then be asked more questions
