I filed my taxes on the 4th of April and they have not been accepted they still have a pending status. Is this normal for the it's to take so long to accept them

No, it's not "normal", but it's not necessarily uncommon. "Normal" is within 24-48 hours. But it can be longer. While it's less common for it to go longer than that, there are no tricks to speed it up.

Monitor it by logging back into your Online account occasionally and checking the status at the Tax Home. You should also get an email when the efiled return is accepted or rejected.
