Was your return Accepted? First double check your efile status here

When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.

Then only the IRS can tell you. IRS Where's my refund https://www.irs.gov/refunds/
Make sure you are using the refund amount from your actual federal tax return and not the combined amount Turbo Tax showed you at the end. That was for federal and state combined.

When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc. what does it say?

Thank you for the response. It was a refund not a return, my mistake. We filed with turbotax and were status "accepted" for the Federal return on February 22nd. I checked Turbotax, IRS.gov, and https://taxpayer.sbtpg.com/error?aspxerrorpath=/Dashboard/Index which is the bank that issue's the refunds per an IRS agent. They all each say effectively "processing" with no further data. I'm fine with that. The only thing I'm confused on is at the turbotax site it indicates that my federal refund should be around March the 14 per the "Estimated federal refund date 03/14/20" listed in the turbotax software.

I'm content to wait, but I have received my state return back on 3/5/20. So to clarify and possibly set my mind at ease, what am I missing?

Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.

If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds

After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.

If over 21 days since being Accepted by the IRS and the tax refund is still Processing you can call the IRS and speak with an IRS agent concerning your tax refund.
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.

I received the stimulus payment last night. So the account is correct. I suppose I'll just wait for the IRS to process the refund.

And we got our state refund back. Got stimulus. So now we're just waiting on the federal.

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer. Many refunds are taking longer during the pandemic.

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 20 of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
