To access your current or prior year tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the userID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show. Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created. TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

For a fee of $50 you can get a complete federal tax return from the IRS by completing Form 4506 - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf

I used the Mac version of Turbotax for last year’s return. I know where the file is on my computer, but I cant get t to do anything but import data for this years return. How do I open it up, PDF or otherwise, so I can print a copy for my records?

To open your tax file in TurboTax, you'll need the the same version of TurboTax as the tax file's year. For example, you'll need to open your 2018 tax return in TurboTax 2018. Go here if you have Lost your software. Here are additional instructions on finding your tax file, which includes the instructions on how to view your tax return.

I am using the desktop version and I cannot figure out how to import the prior 2018 return.

So, you should have a copy on your desktop computer saved. You also have to option of ordering a tax transcript. Please follow the instructions below to order your transcript from the IRS.

You have to sign onto your 2019 online account using the exact same User ID you used to create the online account.

Close all TurboTax windows on your web browser (including this one). Copy and paste the account recovery website link onto a new web browser window and run the tool.

Use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of all the User ID's for an email address. Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery

If none of the user ID's received will access your 2019 account, then use the option shown in blue on the account recovery website, "Try something else"
