Supporting documents for amended tax return

I am amending my 2018 return due to using wrong year's W-2 for spouse's income. For supporting docs to attach with the 1040X, should i provide a copy of the 2017 W-2 that was incorrectly used and a copy of the 2018 W-2 that should have been used?

Also, when they say "attach" to the front of form, do they mean physically attach (staple?)

I generally use a paper clip. If you explained what happened on the 1040-X, I would attach both W-2s and that should be sufficient.
