      <description>&lt;P&gt;You can probably make this determination easily but you may need to refer to the copy of your tax return. For the child tax credit, the maximum amount that you can receive is $1000 for each child that qualifies you for this credit. This amount can only offset your tax liability so if you were unable to receive the whole amount of the credit, then you would be able to claim the additional child tax credit if you have earned income in excess of $3000.
