Thanks for the reply, but I already followed those instructions. I was not able to proceed past Step 3 - the final submission step for some reason. So I am seeking advice on how to advance to submitting my amended return.

Ignore the submitting errors. You can not efile a prior year or amended return. You have to print and mail it.
