TurboTax will not let me pay electronically

Make sure to mail your check by April 15, 2020

The direct debit option is not available to you.

The credit card option is not available due to your filing choices.

When I go to try and pay my taxes, TurboTax shows me the above on the "file" screen. I am not able to choose the direct debit or credit card option for some reason (highly preferred for me... I don't have easy access to checks). It won't tell me why though. I'm using TurboTax Free File and on my receipt it says it comes with electronic filing included. So why can't I pay online??? Please help.

There are times your return cannot be e-filed for one reason or another.

Turbotax will allow me to file my return electronically, but there is a message that I cannot pay my tax liability. I have paid at the time of e-filing in the past. WHY am I not allowed to do so now?

It sounds like you can e-file, but you are not allowed to pay the tax amount due?
