I filed my federal taxes on January 31, 2020 (Friday). I received 2 emails shortly after, one stating my taxes have been successfully received and the other stating my federal refund was accepted by the IRS. I’ve read that it takes roughly 24 hours before you can see an type of status on my update. I haven’t been able to check via Turbo Tax or irs.gov. It’s stating it can’t find my information. What’s going on?

When you check the status of your return, be sure to use the correct social security number as well as the whole dollar amount of your refund.

Do not combine the state and federal amount, and also be sure to use the refund amount before any fees are taken out. Refunds are a whole dollar amount.

It can take 24-48 hours or more for your refund to be accepted. Also, this is business days, and January 31 was on Friday, so the weekend is not included.

The refund tracker can be located here.
