topic Do I wait for corrected Box 12 Code DD values from my second employer? in After you file

My W2 from one employer has a value in Box 12 for DD. My other W2 does not, however I heard my employer may be reissuing our W2 to include this information. Am I able to submit my taxes without the second DD amount complete? Will I need to refile if I receive an updated W2 with the DD amount from my other employer.
This is two employers where I had similar benefits, each for part of the year.

If you are certain that the only change from a reissued or corrected W-2 will be Box 12 DD information, then no, you don't need to wait for a new W-2 wage statement before you file your tax return, and no you won't need to refile (amend) your tax return later.

This conclusion is based on the fact that the letter code DD (in W-2 Box 12) is
simply a reporting mechanism for the Affordable Care Act (also known as
Obamacare) that tells the IRS how much your employer spent on health
insurance coverage for you during the year. It doesn't actually affect
your tax return in any way. And it also doesn't matter if you have more than one employer or more than one W-2 with Box 12 Code DD. The amount shown there is only for data gathering purposes (as of the 2016 tax year) under the provisions of the Affordable Care Act.

For some additional (brief) commentary, you can read TurboTax's position on W-2 Box 12 Code DD at the following Frequently Asked Questions link:

 https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/2413895-what-is-code-dd-in-box-12-of-my-w-2

In conclusion, if you have Code DD information in hand, please go ahead and enter it as you complete your tax return. Absent Code DD information, you may otherwise go ahead and file your tax return without waiting for a corrected W-2 (and without getting into any trouble, or without any future tax penalties whatsoever).

Thank you for asking this question.
