The most common reason for lower refunds is withholding in relation to income changes. If your income stayed the same, but withholding went down your refund will go down in comparison. If your income increased and your withholding stayed the same, again your refund will go down by comparison. TurboTax will show you last year's income and withholding amounts in side by side columns.
