If you claimed your son as a dependent and if there was no scholarship income shown on the 1098-T that paid for other than qualified expenses, then it does not need to be entered on his tax return. You would enter it on your tax return and claim qualified education expenses paid out of pocket or with loans for an education credit on your tax return.

As Texas Roger correctly advised above, you do not have to amend your return if there was no scholarship income that paid other than qualified education expenses.

However, if your son was a dependent on your tax return, and there were Tuition expenses in excess of any scholarships, you may want to amend your return to see if you qualify for any Education tax credits.

Here is a link with summaries of education benefits: Education Credits 2019 and the Tuition and Fees Deduction: Tuition and Fees Deduction

I am also including information on amending your tax return using TurboTax: Amending my Tax Return
