Go to the Social Security Administration and get a replacement, all you need is ID and birth certificate for child. I believe they give temporary cards or atleast the SSN. Should also be free.

You're going to need to have a Social Security number available when you file your return, so that you can claim your child as a dependent.

If you haven't received her number by the filing date -- July 15th, this year -- then you can request an automatic extension by filing Form 4868.
