So I e-filed January 19th and a couple days later both my state and federal says accepted on turbo tax app but when I try to search it on where’s my refund it tells me they cannot provide a update. It doesn’t even show me the bar progress. Is it taking longer to be received by IRS because I have EITC? Oh and does anyone know why it says federal was filed with turbo tax free edition but state doesn’t say anything like that? When your on the home screen looking at both refunds . Thank you all!!

Taxpayers who claim the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit may experience a refund hold. According to the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act, the IRS cannot issue these refunds before mid-February. The IRS expects the first EITC/ACTC related refunds to be available in taxpayer bank accounts or on debit cards by the first week of March, if they chose direct deposit and there are no other issues with their tax return. WMR on IRS.gov and the IRS2Go app will be updated with projected deposit dates for most early EITC/ACTC refund filers by February 22. So EITC /ACTC filers will not see an update to their refund status for several days after Feb. 15.

The IRS, tax preparers and tax software will not have additional information on refund dates, so Where’s My Refund? remains the best way to check the status of a refund. Where’s My Refund? is only updated once daily, usually overnight, so you don’t need to check the status more often.

Why is my refund being held?

If you claim the EITC or ACTC on your tax return, the IRS cannot issue your refund before mid-February. The law requires the IRS to hold the entire refund — even the portion not associated with the EITC or ACTC. Like previous years, some tax refunds may be held if there are questions about the tax return or the IRS needs more information.

Why does it take so long for the funds to show up in my account?

Thank you for breaking it down. So it would be safe to say it’s normal that it just shows “accepted”instead of “received by IRS. “ I was getting worried because someone I know is receiving EITC and is already able to search it on Where’s my refund, while mine doesn’t even pull me up.

Once your return is ACCEPTED for processing it is normal for the IRS site to not have information on your return from time to time as you proceed thru processing to the point where your return is APPROVED for dispersal of the refund ... just be patient and check again after 2/15 for an update since that is when EIC returns will be processing.

Again ... it is common for the IRS site to not have info on your return available from time to time ... do not keep looking more than once a day or you will be locked out for 24 hours. Check the TT tool ... if it says it is accepted then be patient ...

To track your Federal refund, visit the Where’s My Federal Refund? site or the IRS2Go app to check your Federal refund status.

Note: You will need your social security number, filing status, and refund amount in order to track your refund.

If your return is still pending and not accepted yet by the IRS, you will need to wait until it's accepted to check the status on the IRS website.

Be sure when checking Where’s My Federal Refund? site that you are entering only your Federal refund amount. This can be found on your Federal form 1040, line 21a. Waiting is frustrating—refunds are taking longer in many cases. These are not normal times. It is not possible for TurboTax to speed up the IRS for you. They are short staffed; and they are processing millions of tax returns at the same time that they have been burdened with the task of processing millions of stimulus checks.

This is false information that you're giving people. It has been over a month and IRS still doesn't have any information. And it is not normal not to have any information 24 hours after your refund has been accepted. It seems to me the IRS and TurboTax are again not on the same page just like what happened with the stimulus. I swear I'm not using TurboTax ever again.

I appreciate it but I have talked to the IRS over the phone they only provided the same information the where's my refund tool provides. I don't know maybe they're working from home and they don't have access to certain information. Everybody who used TurboTax had this problem with their stimulus checks also, I don't believe that TurboTax and IRS are on good terms. The IRS voided their agreement to not compete with TurboTax, which means they plan on competing, I don't think that they want customers to have a good experience using TurboTax because they'd rather have them use their service. 🤷‍♂️

My 2019 tax refund still says accepted so I been waiting a year now and have not got any of my stimulus money 1,2 or 3rd I need answer or I will forcing a class action for fraudulent activities on my tax returns

TurboTax does not issue Stimulus Payments. You will have to contact the IRS regarding any payments or missed payments. However, if you have not filed your 2020 income tax return yet, you can recover your first and 2nd stimulus payments using the following procedures:

I filed my taxes on 8/17/2021. They were accepted now when I check for the refund status it just no information found. I’m still waiting for my money. I also filed for the stimulus money. I have not got any of them. I’m trying to be patient but I really need the money. If you could provide me with any information to ease my mind and sanity I would greatly appreciate it.

You are not alone. Millions are still waiting. Turbo Tax only gives you an estimated date. The IRS usually pays most refunds within 21 days. But these are not normal times. This year is taking the IRS longer to send the refunds. There are millions more people filing returns to get the Stimulus payment.
