I have a child support offset but I never received a letter saying I had one, just when I called the number they said 1 and to call child support, don't they have to notify me before I get refunded if they're going to take any? Because I just got a statement from child support and it said nothing about an offset. I don't owe much but I just would like to know

They money you on Child support will be taken automatically out of your Tax return. After they take it they will semd a letter to you detalingvthe amount they took. No warning ot will just hapoen. And no the child support office will not give you any update either. So if your refund was more than ehat you owe on child support you will have money left over. BUT if you owe more in child support then what your total refund is then you whole tax refund will be taken
