Turbotax Program updates

I buy Turbo tax Premier every year and try to file early, whenever possible. I notice that Turbo tax continues to push program updates, many of them "critical" IRS form updates, etc, long after I've filed for the year. How do I know if/how these updates impact my bottom line and why is this issue not addressed in the program's user interface? Anyone have any experience with this issue?

My experience is that TT won’t let you file if there are forms that require updating that could change the result

Those forms ha errors (red exclamations in the far left) that you can’t clear

My problem is that when I select the "Transmit Returns Now" it comes back with a dialog box stating my version of software needs to be updated, however when I do a check for updates the programs comes back with my software is up to date so now what do I do?

I'm having the same problem and the program that I am using is downloaded to my computer. Not web based.

If you're having trouble updating your TurboTax 2019 for Windows Individual software using the "Check for Updates" method, you can get the latest federal program update here:

Close TurboTax and all other programs except this browser window.
Click here to download the 183 MB update.
Save the update file to your Windows desktop.
Double-click the update file w_perrelsuperpatch... on your desktop to install the manual update.

We don't offer manual updates for TurboTax state software. If you need to update your state, here are your options.

I did the manual update and this didn't help either.

If the manual update didn't work, my suggestion is to uninstall and reinstall the software to your computer: Reinstall TurboTax for Windows or Remove and reinstall TurboTax for Mac.

I, too, received the "you must update before efiling" box when sending my returns (NY is my state module). I checked for updates but there were none.

I was able to file Federal successfully by itself so the state return had to be the problem.

I then uninstalled and reinstalled TT and allowed it to update everything when I restarted. I noted an update to the NY forms was dated yesterday. After restarting the program I was able to efile my NY return successfully.
